Bryan Skavnak Golf Academy Junior Program

"Teaching all kids to be great golfers and great people.”

Bryan Skavnak

Director of Instruction

Bryan Skavnak is the author of The Happiest Golfer, and owner of the Bryan Skavnak Golf Academy, which for the last 13 years has taught kids and adults how to have more fun, smile more, and have the confidence to perform exceptionally, by showing them that score doesn’t matter, people do.

He was recently named one of the Top 50 Master Kids Teachers in the world by U.S. Kids Golf and has been a member of the Professional Golfer’s Association of America (PGA) since 2005.  He is also founder of The Daddy Caddy, Minnesota’s best parent/child golf event.

As an inspiring speaker and writer, Bryan has helped thousands of golfers (and non-golfers) achieve their dream of being happier and more confident by revealing how to surround themselves with a team of good people and embrace how the game of golf can improve relationships.

Bryan has 11 different colored belts, has stacked 5 golf balls on top of each other, and can dance to N ‘SYNC’s Bye, Bye, Bye.  And most likely will do one of those things when you meet him.

He is married to his beautiful wife Kim, and has two darn cute kids, Ethan and Ella, who eat more vegetables than candy.  Weird kids.

Hear what parents have to say about Bryan and his program:

"He combines fundamentals with fun activities, demonstration with participation and blends the right amount of humor with seriousness.  In short, he "gets" what kids need to learn."

“The number one kids' golf instructor where we live!”

“...an innate ability to teach children”

“...an honest and understated person, a generous spirit and a great golf instructor all rolled into one”

“...works hard to know his golfers and his easy-going personality engages kids.”

“...extremely positive role model for kids”

The only question they have after taking golf lessons is "when can we go back?"

Casey Wiedenman

Director of Education

Casey has taught 1st through 3rd grade for the past 11 years. He has his elementary education degree from Winona State and a Masters degree in Teaching & Learning from St. Mary’s University. Casey helps develop and maintain the curriculum used in the junior programs. His wife thinks he’s cuter than Bryan.

Bryan & Casey's Story

Bryan and Casey met at Park Center High School in the stellar music days of the mid-90’s. They became close friends due to their remarkable geekiness, their ability to follow sports and pop culture, and their impressive UNO skills. After high school, they went to different colleges, but came back each summer to work at the Adult Corrections Facility and later to work and golf at Parker’s Lake Golf. Before long, Bryan was a golf pro and Casey was a teacher. They planned to move out west to make it big. So they did…to Plymouth.

The Bryan Skavnak Golf Academy was established in 2000 and after a few years, Casey was brought on to help with the expansion of the junior program. Since 2004, the Academy has seen enormous growth and is now one of the premier junior golf programs in the state.

Today, through the many programs offered by the Bryan Skavnak Golf Academy, Bryan and Casey continue to teach golf and values to kids. They also find time to discuss other important things, like whether the Twins rotation will be any good this year and how to best use a Draw Four card in UNO. The success of the Academy is testament to two friends wanting to help kids become great golfers and great people.
