U.S. Kids Golf Recognizes 2010 Class of Top 50 Teachers

Eight Instructors Earn Master Kids Teacher Status for Longtime Achievement

ATLANTA

In addition to the 50 instructors who were designated Top 50 Kids Teachers in 2010, eight golf professionals have been named Master Kids Teachers by U.S. Kids Golf. The Master Kids Teacher designation recognizes professionals who have been selected to the U.S. Kids Golf list of the world’s top 50 Kids Teachers three or more times.

"The Master Kids Teachers represent a group of professionals who are dedicated to helping kids develop their skills and their love of the game," said Dan Van Horn, founder and president of U.S. Kids Golf. "We’re pleased to recognize their talents and their commitment."

The 2010 Top 50 Kids Teachers and Master Kids Teachers will be recognized Friday, January 28, at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.

Master Kids Teachers include Robert Brown of Trumbull, Conn., Nancy Dunn-Kato of Los Alamitos, Calif., Rick Hemsoth of Fort Wayne, Ind., Rich Marik of San Francisco, Charles Scoggins of Dacula, Ga., Bryan Skavnak of Plymouth, Minn., Joel Suggs of Cincinnati, and Kevin Weeks of Lemont, Ill.

Golf professionals who focus much of their time and energy on developing young golfers in their communities are eligible for U.S. Kids Golf’s America’s Top 50 Kids Teachers designation. The teachers are judged according to several criteria, including percentage of time devoted to kids programs, creativity, communication and efforts to grow the game. The 2010 Top 50 list includes teachers who work at public, private, resort and municipal courses.

Each year, U.S. Kids Golf recognizes the world’s most outstanding youth golf instructors with its Top 50 Kids Teachers award. Individuals who demonstrate continued excellence may join the elite rank of a Master Kids Teacher.
